Public Records Request (CORA)
Understanding CORA
The Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) grants members of the public the right to inspect public documents. Subject to legal exceptions, public records encompass any documents or written files produced, held, or managed by UnBOCES and its staff.

Fees & Costs
There is no fee to submit a request. However, charges may apply if staff time to gather the requested materials exceeds one hour, or if physical copies are required. A complete breakdown of potential costs can be found in Board Policy KDB and KDB-R.
Where to Send Your Request
Publicly accessible materials—such as salary details, specific emails, documents, and recorded media—can be requested via our online Google Form.

Exemptions & Exclusions
Certain files are confidential by law and cannot be released under CORA, including:
Educational/student records
Personnel File information
Personal directory details (e.g., student or staff physical addresses and phone numbers)
Items exempt by HIPAA or FERPA regulations
Production Timeline
Requested information will be returned in three business days if documents are readily available. Additional time may be necessary if documents are not easily obtained. Requests received after 4:00 p.m. will be considered received on the next business day.
